WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE MORE INVOLVED IN YOUR COMMUNITY?
ARE YOU INTERESTED IN WORKING TO IMPROVE YOUR TOWN? If so, you may want to consider serving on/ volunteering for
one of these committees, groups, or Events that take place in Wasco:
WASCO MEMORIAL DAY COMMITTEE: Have you
ever stopped to think about how much work it takes to pull off the Annual Memorial Day Celebration? LOTS AND LOTS –
and more help is needed every year!!
WASCO COMMUNITY GARDEN: 2016 marks the 5th season for the garden which is located on the corner of Sandon St.
and Church St. Plots will be available to residents of Wasco -- with specially designed, kid-friendly plots also offered to
children (and teachers) of North Sherman Preschool, Cougar Camp, and the Child-care facilities located in Wasco.
WASCO RAILROAD & CITY HISTORY CENTER: Located in the Depot, this "history center" allows visitors
a chance to view the intricate model railroad display, and check out various artifacts and photos of the local area. The Depot
is open Fridays and Saturdays during the summer – dependent on Volunteers. WASCO SALMON/STEELHEAD TOURNAMENT: This annual Event is held the last Saturday of September –
beginning at Heritage Landing at the mouth of the Deschutes River, and ending at the Wasco Depot where weigh-in
takes place. Volunteers are needed at both sites. HALLOWEEN FUN HOUSE….. and SANTA'S WORKSHOP: Both of these holiday-based events take place in
downtown Wasco, with the local merchants also taking part in the festivities. Volunteers are needed to help before (organization
and decorating), during (manning tables and handing out treats, and after (clean up).
WASCO CITY/COMMUNITY LIBRARY (Located in the Wasco Annex): Did you know that this amazingly well-stocked
library is operated SOLELY by volunteers, under the supervision of Danee Rankin – our dedicated, volunteer Director?
With limited shelf space, and lots of books, there is always something to do. (Volunteers are greatly appreciated).
If you'd like to learn more about any of the committees, groups or events listed above, stop by Wasco City Hall, or
